Boosting an infertile world

Infertility affects one in six Australian couples with 40% of these cases linked to the male and the quality of their sperm. What if the quality of sperm could be adjusted? Dr Angela Crean believes it can, and she investigates the manipulation of environmental factors in order to boost sperm quality.

Angela’s work focuses on an area of infertility which is often overlooked. In the next few years Angela hopes to lead an emerging field of research that uses evolutionary theory to develop novel and innovative treatments for modern-day epidemics such as infertility. The potential impact of Angela’s work is significant and could provide the opportunity to make infertility treatments less invasion.
